Carl Broemel: All Birds Say

All Birds Say, the second solo release from My Morning Jacket’s underrated “other” guitarist Carl Broemel, comes across as easy as breathing – a soundtrack for lying on the bed bouncing a ball off the wall. A clear departure from MMJ’s sound, and embodying the feeling of an album that fell into place rather than one that was meticulously crafted, All Birds Say emotes the feeling of a guy who’s got it all figured out. With thought-provoking, simplistic lyrical observations like, “There’s a lot of different kind of people in the world. What kind of man are you?” The loping Nashville orchestrations and quietly picked melodies of “Life Leftover” and “Enough” shine, making these Birds sing.
