“We’re looking forward to traveling anywhere and playing music – whether it’s jamming, recording or busking on the street,” says James Guidry (guitar, keys, horn, banjo) of The Kingston Springs. “We try and keep our live shows loud and strong, while not overdoing it. Like our album, sometimes we go fast, sometimes we go slow – but everything we play has energy.” The Southern quartet originally met in grade school but didn’t start performing together until Spring 2009. After they grew tired of playing covers, they started writing their own music – which falls somewhere between surf rock, blues and folk – and have been doing so ever since in a “rocky-top, harmonic, heavy, groove” style. “We can’t plan our creative inspiration,” Guidry says. “Whatever is going on with us at that time – whether it’s time alone, with each other or with others outside the band.” He mentions that for their self-titled full-length debut, “most of the songs had their own unique way of being written.” While the guys enjoy time spent on tour, they will likely call Nashville home for the long run. “It’s a rad place all-around for sure,” Guidry says. “We’re definitely inspired by the people here but things seem to get more creative on the road.”
