Yusuf/Cat Stevens Cancels North American Book Tour, Shares Personal Note
Yusuf/ Cat Stevens has canceled his North American book tour due to visa delays. The actual live appearances were slated for October. Despite the passage of time, Stevens acknowledged the revocation of seven US stops in support of his newly released memoir, Cat On The Road To Findout.
In a statement describing the series of events that led to the abandonment of his schedule, Stevens explains:
Unfortunately, my North American Book Tour is officially cancelled.
Unpredictably, and befuddling to us all, the actual visa finally got delivered after the last scheduled date of the tour had passed.
I know how disappointing this must be for those of you who were looking forward to the book tour. My agent and team explored every possible avenue, but it was all beyond our control.
I’m grateful for your patience and your support and I hope something new may be put together in the future, in better and brighter circumstances. Peace and love, always.
Before the cancellation, Stevens promised fans, “[An] in-depth conversation about his new memoir, which chronicles his evolution from chart-topping pop star to spiritual explorer. The evening will also feature select unplugged performances of songs that have defined generations, offering an intimate journey through the life and music of one of the most beloved and enigmatic artists of our time.”
While previewing the memoir, he described the process of sifting through its contents as “Having passed through the exhaustingly complex maze of everyday material life, ascending the dizzying heights of wealth, recognition, and artistic achievements, I think I’ve got a few things to share. Keeping an open mind was part of the nature I instinctively maintained as a creative songwriter. Nothing was off-bounds. Music was a way of discovering my purpose within the universe. I just kept on exploring, reading, and learning more, ignoring myths and warnings and crossing dangerous-looking bridges into the vast ranges of philosophies and through the veils of the spiritual unknown.
Now I have written a book which explains what I’ve learned and the stories along the way. That doesn’t make me a teacher, but more of a potential specimen for those who are searching and pursuing happiness on all sides of the divide. Believe me, folks, it’s out there!”
Those who purchased tickets will be notified of the cancellation and refunded today. For more information, Ticketmaster’s Purchase Policy is here.
