Yebba Releases ‘Live at Electric Lady’ Session on Spotify
Following the release of Yebba’s celestial cover of John Mayer’s “The Age of Worry” the 27-year-old has announced a surprise release of the full session from her time at New York City’s Electric Lady Studios.
The five-song EP features tracks from her debut album Dawn, which was released in September of 2021. The songs were rearranged and reimagined for the Live at Electric Lady EP and feature contributions from Questlove, Pino Palladino (who played bass on John Mayer’s original version of “The Age of Worry,” in addition to Yebba’s cover), Charles Myers, a string quartet, and more.
“Rerecording some of these songs with fresh eyes and ears really changed the way we approached them. Having the core members of the band from Dawn really brought that feeling of what it was like the past few years when we recorded it,” said James Francies, Yebba’s bandleader and producer, in a press release. “From Questlove, to Pino, to Charles [Myers] and the string quartet, I think we all found comfort in being in a familiar space with familiar people. It felt like a family reunion.”
Like the previous Live at Electric Lady releases, Yebba’s work will be available exclusively on Spotify. The release follows in the footsteps of artists like Patti Smith, Jon Batiste, Japanese Breakfast and Faye Webster.
Electric Lady Studios and Spotify plan to continue to collaborate with artists to produce many more recordings.
