Los Angeles icons X and Los Lobos have announced plans to mount their first co-headline tour. The ‘99 Years of Rock ‘N’ Roll’ tour recalls the golden age of Slash Records with 25 shared bills across the country, plus a lone Canadian stand, from July 19 to November 22. These Angeleno punk institutions, both of which still boast their original lineups, will pore over their expansive discographies with a noted focus on hitting cities they’ve never visited before.

“48 years is a long time. 51 years, even longer. But 99 years combined is an insane number for two rock and roll bands and with the same lineup? Unheard of,” Los Lobos’ Louis Perez Jr. said. “That’s what we got going this year when Los Lobos team up with our good amigos X for our very first American tour together. Sounds like a celebration and everybody is invited.”

X’s Exene Cervenka echoed, “This is a dream come true for me. We’re taking the 70’s & 80’s punk roots of LA both East and West all over the country. TOGETHER! 99 years and still going strong. Let’s have a party!”

The ‘99 Years of Rock ‘N’ Roll’ tour begins with a show at Denver’s Paramount Theatre on July 19 and a follow-up in Salt Lake City on July 20. After a standalone engagement back in Santa Ana on Aug. 3, the bands will return to the road with a Sept. 19 play at Toronto’s Massey Hall. From there, they’ll sprint across the East Coast, Midwest, West Coast and Lone Star State, including high-profile bookings at New York’s Town Hall, Nashville, Tenn.’s Ryman Auditorium, Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater, Chicago’s The Auditorium, Seattle’s Moore Theatre, Oakland, Calif.’s Paramount Theatre and Austin, Texas’ ACL Live at the Moody Theatre. They’ll wrap the run with a finale at Smart Financial Centre in Houston on Nov. 22.

More dates on the tour are still to be announced, but the landmark collaboration is billed as the “first and last tour of its kind.” Presales start tomorrow, April 30, at 10 a.m. local before a general on-sale on Friday, May 2.
