Willie Nelson Announces 50th Anniversary 4th of July Picnic
Outlaw country music icon Willie Nelson has announced the return of his 4th of July Picnic. This year’s event will mark the 50th iteration of the once-a-year gathering, slated to take place at the Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, on July 4, 2023.
In addition to the date and location of the upcoming event, Nelson also delivered the artist lineup for the Independence Day celebration. Joining the musical great are fellow players, including Tyler Childers, Dwight Yoakam, Shakey Graves, Shane Smith & The Saints, Sierra Ferrell, Asleep at The Wheel, and Nelson’s son, Particle Kid.
Following the live music performances, the night will be capped in typical holiday fashion with a fireworks display, which serves as a fitting accompaniment given the celebratory nature of the event, which dates back to 1973.
Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic falls amid his 2023 Outlaw Music Festival Tour. The summer trek will bring together industry talents, such as Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, John Fogerty, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, The Avett Brothers and more.
