Sylvan Esso are currently on the road supporting their new album, Ow ∞ with a massive 30-city tour. For this run, Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn are being joined by a large-scale backing band that includes guitarist/keyboardist Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak/ Flock of Dimes), bassist Michael Libramento (Grace Potter, Floating Action, Amy Helm), drummer Ben Lumsdaine and keyboardist Dev Gupta.
While performing at Chicago’s Salt Shed on Thursday, Sylvan Esso expanded their lineup with a few additional guest musicians and, near the end of their show, the ensemble brought out Wilco drummer, and Chicago staple, Glenn Kotche for the Ow ∞ tracks “Right to Left” and” On & On” as well as the No Rules Sandy number “Moving.” Then, Finom—the duo of Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham—joined Sylvan Esso and Kotche for “Come Down,” from the band’s self-titled record, and “Rewind” from What Now to help close out the set. Of note, Kotche appears on Ow ∞, which was released in September, while Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy produced Finom’s 2024 album No God at The Loft.
Up next, Sylvan Esso will perform at Kakegawa, Japan’s Festival de Frue, which takes place on October 31 and November 1.
