Watch Now: The Rolling Stones Dust Off The Beatles’ “I Wanna Be Your Man” in Liverpool

Last night, The Rolling Stones descended upon Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium as a part of their 60th-anniversary tour, dubbed Sixty, which kicked off on June 1 in Madrid, Spain. The legendary ensemble’s third tour stop brought forth unforgettable high-energy takes on fan favorites and a bust out of The Beatles’ “I Wanna Be Your Man,” performed for the first time since 2012.
“I Wanna Be Your Man” was initially co-written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon and released as a single by The Rolling Stones in 1963. The Beatles followed up with their own take on the tune later that same year. As a result, the song has been revived throughout The Rolling Stones’ longstanding history but was dropped from their repertoire in 2012 until last night’s memorable comeback.
Prior to the band’s take on the tune, Mick Jagger told the audience, “[We’re going] to do a cover song written by our other local mates, so we’re doing this, especially for you, Liverpool.” Jagger’s introduction was capped with his signature vocals, carrying the crowd favorite through to the final note.
Ronnie Wood laid down the riffs on the classic number – as seen in the fan-shot video – while Keith Richards maintained his carefree attitude on the grand bust-out. Needless to say, Jagger strutted and boogied his way through the three-minute song, which landed after “Tumbling Dice” and before “Out of Time,” during the first half of the single set concert.
