Watch Now: Dave Grohl, Greg Kurstin and Judd Apatow Cover Blood Sweat & Tears’ “Spinning Wheel” for Hanukkah
Yesterday, Sunday, Dec. 18, was the first day of Hanukkah. To mark the occasion and continue a three-year tradition, Foo Fighter’s frontman, Dave Grohl, and producer, Greg Kurstin, shared the first night of their 2022 Hanukkah Session on YouTube. Included was a cover of Blood, Sweat & Tears’ “Spinning Wheel,” watch below.
For the third installment of the holiday tradition, Grohl and his collaborators–Kurstin and comedian Judd Apatow–took the stage at the 250-capacity venue known as the Largo in Los Angeles for a hushed live performance on Dec. 5, which was recorded for the use of this project.
Before the song started, Apatow spoke to the audience and referenced a particular performance of the number by Hank Kingsley on the Larry Sanders Show. After prefacing the cover as a tribute to the latter, Apatow delivered the iconic opening lyrics: “What goes up must come down/ Spinnin’ wheel got to go ’round.”
