Little Feat have unveiled the official music video for their track “Shipwrecks,” a feature off the ensemble’s latest studio effort, Strike Up The Band, which was released in full on May 9, 2025, via Hot Tomato. The video focuses on the band’s new lead guitarist and vocalist, Scott Sharrard’s LP contribution, while also highlighting his skillset via the Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard-directed and edited video.
The official video for “Shipwrecks” captures the band performing on the Eastside Bowl stage in Madison, Tenn., and an actor beneath an umbrella in a rain-drenched backyard in neighboring Franklin. It is tinged in black and white to evoke a sense of nostalgia in consideration of the group’s extensive history, which harkens back to their 1969 start, in addition to a timeless guitar solo from Sharrard, who sonically ascends to the Southern Rock heavens tonally connecting to heavyweight Duane Allman.
In his own words, Sharrard says, “There’s an old saying that when we invented ships we also invented the shipwreck. This song is a reflection on mortality and life’s journey that was fueled by some lyrical inspiration from the late French poet Blaise Cendrars.”
He continues, “The singular open A tuning chord voicing’s of the great Lowell George also informed the structure of the riffs that provide the backdrop. The cherry on top is the ride out of the track which finds Bill Payne revisiting an old Moog synth that we found at the studio over an odd time groove that cooks.”
Besides today’s visual equalizer, the band will support their latest set on the road for a series of summer dates beginning on Friday, June 13, at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, Calif. They’ll stick to West Coast appearances during June, only to resume their live commitments with a pair of gigs in late August, including Feat Fest at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, N.Y. Then, Little Feat will take their talents to the Southern and Eastern regions of the United States in mid-October.
