Watch: Laura Lee of Khruangbin Joins Hermanos Gutiérrez at Brooklyn Steel

Over the weekend, Ecuadorian-Swiss guitar duo Hermanos Gutiérrez brought their signature strum to Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Brooklyn Steel for back-to-back sold-out shows. To bring the weekend to a close, brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez invited Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee for the final song of the evening, “El Mar.” Hermanos Gutiérrez’s New York dates precede the release of Sonido Cósmico–“cosmic sound”–on June 14 via Easy Eye Sound.
Lee’s feature in the family ensemble’s set is no surprise, as the bands have a history of mutual appreciation–Hermanos Gutiérrez joined Khruangbin on their A LA SALA tour back in April. The A LA SALA tour continues tonight, May 22 and May 23 at Philadelphia’s The Met Philadelphia with support from John Carroll Kirby; other indie gems Peter Cat Recording Co., Men I Trust and Arooj Aftab will support Khruangbin as the run continues. Alongside festival performances at Boston Calling May 25 and Bonnaroo June 14, Khruangbin will grace notable venues like Chicago’s Salt Shed on June 7, 8 and 9, Berkeley, Calif.’s Greek Theatre on Aug. 15 and 16, Morrison, Colo.’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Aug. 27 and 28, New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on Sept. 20 and 21 and the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on Oct. 9 and 10.
Hermanos Gutiérrez are also in for a busy summer, with performances at festivals across the world like Zürich’s Unique Moments Festival on June 1, Kent, U.K.’s Black Deer Festival on June 16 and Newport’s Newport Folk Festival on July 27. The brothers are set to travel across the West Coast before returning to Europe for shows in London, Stockholm, Berlin, Paris and more. Then, for two Saturdays in October–Oct. 5 and Oct. 12–Hermanos Gutiérrez and Khruangbin will perform at Austin City Limits to conclude the summer.
