Watch: Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin Wrap Hanukkah Sessions with Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.”
Over the weekend, Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin shared the final installment of their annual Hannukah celebration with a performance of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” featuring guest appearances by Jack Black, P!nk, Beck and more.
The sardonic song was recorded live, like the rest of the duo’s Hanukka Sessions, at Los Angeles’ Largo on Dec. 5 and was released on the final night of the Festival of Lights, which also happened to fall on Christmas Day. Along with the aforementioned artists, Karen O, Inara George, and Black’s Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass joined on vocals during the track’s refrain of “We Love it!”
2022’s Hanukkah Sessions started on the first day of the holiday on Dec. 18 and over the eight days saw covers by Black, Judd Apatow, Grohl’s daughter Violet, and original songs by Karen O, Beck, P!nk, and Black who also played “Heads Will Roll,” “E-Pro” and “Get the Party Started.”
