On Saturday, Brandi Carlile made her return to Saturday Night Live to share her incredible sound as the musical guest while the beloved Steve Martin and Martin Short acted as hosts. The six-time Grammy Award-winning singer, who is currently nominated for seven additional awards, performed her breakthrough 2007 song “The Story” and 2022 Record of the Year-nominated “You and Me on the Rock” with Lucius.

“For some reason it just felt right to play ‘The Story’… ending this year honoring our younger selves,” Carlile said of the performance in a press release. “Maybe it’s in deep gratitude, or maybe it’s because I finally do have some lines on my face. Either way thanks for giving us that gift SNL, I will never forget it.”

During both musical segments, Carlile, who made her Saturday Night Live debut in October of 2021, sang with a golden mic, was adorned in colorful lapels and looked completely at home with her backing band on the Grand Central Terminal fashioned stage. Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius equally looked at home as they sang with Carlile on “You and Me on the Rock.”

Along with the wonderful musical segments, Carlile has confirmed a string of solo shows set for Portland, Maine’s State Theatre, two nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. and the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, N.C.

Tickets for the solo shows go on sale Friday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. local time. Find tickets and learn more here.
