Washington Nationals Announce Grateful Dead Day

Batter up! Major League Baseball has taken a dose of the Grateful Dead and introduced a one-off theme night to the Washington Nationals’ calendar. On May 1, 2026, the aforementioned team will play a nine-inning game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. The event has been dubbed Grateful Dead Day and will serve as the team’s second annual tie-dye occasion.

Coupling a live sports experience with the pleasure of hearing Grateful Dead music in a public setting alongside other like-minded fans, the forthcoming themed event will present classics from the band’s official repertoire while also evoking nods to the songs and sensation of the San Francisco jamband through the offer of a co-branded item with reference to both entities.

The Washington Nationals previously hosted their first Grateful Dead-themed game in August 2019, when they played against the Cincinnati Reds. Word of the latest band-fledged sporting event follows suit with an increase of offerings across the sports realm, including the NHL’s Phish Night, which will take place next Friday, March 27, when the New York Rangers face off against the Chicago Blackhawks.
