Warren Haynes has unveiled the ambitious new Now Is The Time Tour, set to stage three special concerts in the Northeast this June. Alongside The Dreams and Sounds Symphonic Experience, this series will feature the debut of the highly-anticipated new Warren Haynes Band. Each show will be composed of three frames: two pioneering sets of symphonic music, capped off by a final presentation of Haynes’ inimitable blues-rock prowess. Throughout the performances, Haynes will explore the highlights of his sprawling catalog, including unheard arrangements of favorites from Gov’t Mule, the Allman Brothers Band and the Grateful Dead, as well as revived compositions from the lauded Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration series.
For the first stop in the Now Is The Time Tour, Haynes will hike to Bethel, N.Y. for a June 7 show at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, kicking off three consecutive evenings of performance. On June 8, Haynes and his band will move on to Boston’s Leader Band Pavilion, followed by a final presentation at Candigua, N.Y.’s CMAC on June 9. The symphonic component of each of these engagements will spotlight locally sourced orchestras, with the acclaimed Rochester Philharmonic supporting the final event. All three shows will be conducted by Rich Daniels of Chicago’s City Lights Orchestra; Daniels and Haynes previously collaborated on Dreams & Songs – A Symphonic Journey in 2019.
Just as these high-concept events will salute Haynes’ lineage of adventurous, genre-bending Americana inversions, the Warren Haynes Band portion of the evening will show the master at work in the straight-ahead blues-rock form he’s helped to define in over 50 years of performance. These engagements will also present the fresh iteration of the Warren Haynes Band, featuring longtime friend and collaborator John Medeski on keys, Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott and New Orleans’ Terrence Higgins on the drums. Higgins has been a regular member of Haynes’ revolving backing outfit since 2010 and joined the legendary musician and Medeski in 2022 for The Last Waltz Tour.
“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to tour with both my new band and the Symphonic Experience,” Haynes has shared. “We will be reinterpreting a lot of different music from the storied ‘songbooks’ of many of the bands I’ve been fortunate to have been a part of over the last three decades or so combined with material from my solo work, including new music. Many of these aforementioned classic songs will be interpreted by an orchestra for the first time ever and doing sets with both the symphony and the band alone will give us the platform to perform a multi-dimensional show night after night.”
These latest dates fill a space in Haynes’ touring schedule between American festival appearances and later shows in Europe. Gov’t Mule will take the stage next to lead Atlanta’s SweetWater Music Festival on April 20, followed by a May 1 headline appearance at Daze Between in New Orleans with special guests John Scofield, Chuck Leavell, Ivan Neville and more. After the Now Is The Time Tour, the new Warren Haynes Band will go on to lead Holland International Blues Festival in the Netherlands and Spain’s Azkena Rock Festival on June 15 and 22, respectively.
