Warren Haynes has announced a newly remixed and remastered edition of his debut studio album, Tales of Ordinary Madness. Set to release on January 30 via Megaforce Records, the Southern blues-jam firebrand’s updated take on his celebrated first solo offering gives new dimension to the critical moment in his career, as evinced by the new version of album opener “Fire in the Kitchen” on all streaming platforms now.
After his time in the Dickey Band and four years into a legendary run with the Allman Brothers Band, Haynes summoned the insights he’d earned from Southern rock’s originators to put forward a statement of his nascent personal style. Alongside producer Chuck Leavell, the singer-songwriter and guitarist swirled his love for psychedelic rock, electric blues and Southern soul into a fiery and impactful sound. Entries like “Movers and Shakers,” “Sister Justice” and “Broken Promised Land” remain cornerstones of Haynes’ expansive catalog, and the reissue’s tracklist is expanded with a previously unheard take on Gov’t Mule staple “Tear Me Down.”
Just after his next project’s release, the tireless performer will return to the road with a new series of intimate solo dates dubbed the Winter of Warren Tour. Haynes will deliver 10 two-set performances in theaters across the West Coast and South from Feb. 12-25, including San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Austin, Texas’ The Paramount Theatre, Dallas’ The Kessler Theater, Pelham, Tenn.’s famed The Caverns and two nights and four shows at the new Blue Note Los Angeles. Tickets are live now at warrenhaynes.net.
“Although I have done a few solo dates here and there, I’ve never afforded myself the opportunity to do an actual solo tour, so I’m extremely excited about this,” Haynes said. “Performing by myself gives me the opportunity to express myself in a completely different way from performing with a band. The focus becomes much more about my voice and the songs themselves and less about virtuoso guitar playing, although I try to include some fun guitar stuff as well. Anytime I get the chance to do something that I don’t get to do often enough is a rewarding experience for me and hopefully for the audience as well,”
Before wrapping up a long year of touring and recording, Haynes will return to Asheville, N.C. for his 33rd annual Christmas Jam on Dec. 13, featuring Warren Haynes & Friends, Stone Temple Pilots, MJ Lenderman & The Wind, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and more. To cap off 2025, he’ll take Gov’t Mule to New York for a classic New Year’s Eve series at the Beacon Theatre.
