Wanee Festival Will Not Return to Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in 2019
Wanee Music Festival, which has taken place annually at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL, since 2005, will not return to its longtime home in 2019, festival organizers have announced via a statement on their website.
“The traditional weekend for the Wanee Music Festival in 2019 falls on the same weekend as Good Friday, Easter and Passover,” the note begins. The organizers go on to cite the fact that music fans want to spend time with family during those religious holidays as the main reason that Wanee “will not take place in 2019 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.”
It is not currently clear if Wanee will not take place at all in 2019 or if the venue and weekend will simply be changed. The festival’s note ends by telling fans to “stay tuned for future Wanee announcements.”
Since 2005, Wanee has been a springtime haven for jamband and Southern-rock music in Florida. Hosted by the Allman Brothers Band until their final shows in 2014, Wanee most recently offered headlining sets from Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, among others.
