Umphrey's McGee traveled to Bellvue, CO for three shows at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre over the weekend. Each of the group’s performances offered special, unanticipated song selections.
On Friday night the band debuted an extended version of Radiohead’s “Karma Police.” Umphrey’s performed the OK Computer track at end of the second set, where it segued into UM original “The Fussy Dutchman.” The band opened the evening in fine form as a 17-minute version of “Attachments” drifted into “Anchor Drops,” an expansive “Day Nurse” and then a 20-minute take on “2x2.”
Saturday found the band revisiting David Bowie’s “Golden Years” for the first time since 6/15/24. The evening kicked off with “The Linear,” which was paired with “Susanah,” a tune that surfaced after a 166 show gap. Another four-song sequence provided a highlight, this time in the second set, as “Hurt Bird Bath” led into “Hangover,” “Plunger” and “Wife Soup” over a 57 minute stretch.
The final gig included a guest guitar player. Colin Shore of the Denver-based quintet Squeaky Feet appeared for the first-set closer “Bridgeless.” He later returned for “JaJunk,” the final tune in the second set, as well as the Partyin' Peeps” encore. Earlier in the evening, Umphrey’s debuted a cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium,” and also offered memorable, improv-heavy versions of “Red Tape” and “Pure Saturation”
Next up for the group is an appearance at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR on Wednesday.
