When Phish Radio launched on SiriusXM back in 2018, one of the key selling points for the pop-up station was the “Ask Trey” segment, through which listeners could get their questions to the iconic jam quartet’s frontman to address live on the air. Now, for the first time since the station moved in for JamOn to become a permanent fixture on Channel 29, the fan-favorite bit will return.
Trey Anastasio confirmed on Sunday that “Ask Trey” will return this December, just in time for Phish’s 18th annual New Year’s stand at Madison Square Garden. Fans are invited to submit their questions, in the form of voice notes including their names, to phishradio@siriusxm.com by Friday, December 12, for consideration.
While Phish has been off the road since September, there’s been no shortage of activity for the celebrated vocalist and guitarist to discuss. Of course, there’s the incoming MSG series, which will bring the band’s tally of performances at the World’s Most Famous Arena to a whopping 91. Then, there’s Anastasio’s recent return to touring with the Trey Anastasio Band, which culminated in the thrilling three-night anniversary celebration for his 2020 Beacon Jams at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Maybe the most enticing item on the band’s calendar is their recently announced nine-night return to Las Vegas’ Sphere in April, which will build on the memory of their unforgettable series at the technologically peerless venue in 2024.
