Trey Anastasio Defines His Craft (video)

A video has surfaced of Phish guitarist and lead singer Trey Anastasio talking about his musical history, creativity and, yes, the power of glowsticks. The insightful video is part of the bonus content from a new coffee table book by the photographer Andrew Zuckerman called Music due out next month from Abrams. The book culls together 50 musicians “defining their craft.” For each musician, Zuckerman has included one to two images shot against a white seamless and brightly lit along with a lengthy essay from each about their craft. The artists, appearing in alphabetical order in the book, range from Fiona Apple, Ornette Coleman and Iggy Pop to Jim James, Lenny Kravitz and Ozzy Osbourne. Anastasio, the first musician in the book, contributes a lengthy essay which part of which was culled from the video.
Zuckerman released a similar book in 2008 titled Wisdom whose theme was “The Greatest Gift One Generation Can Give To Another.”
