Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Annual Americana Honors & Awards this evening. Surviving original Heartbreakers Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Stan Lynch and Ron Blair will open the show with a special reunion performance; Chris Stapleton will fill in for the late Tom Petty. Latter-day Heartbreakers Steve Ferrone and Scott Thurston will also join for a final song. The event will be held at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, with The Heartbreakers kicking off the festivities at 6:30 pm CT.
While in Nashville, The Heartbreakers will discuss their band’s legacy during the AMERICANAFEST Business Conference at the Embassy Suites Downtown Nashville on Thursday, September 17. The panel, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: 50 Years, will begin at 10am CT. AMERICANAFEST kicked off last night. Petty passed away in 2017.
