The String Cheese Incident Postpone Texas Performances Due to Flooding

The String Cheese Incident
Since Friday, July 4, extreme flash flooding from days of unrelenting rain has surged through central Texas. As emergency teams begin the long process of recovery, officials have recognized the event as one of the worst natural disasters in the state’s history. The String Cheese Incident have postponed two upcoming performances in an affected city “out of respect for the circumstances.”
In a post to their social channels, the progressive bluegrass ensemble detailed that their previously slated performances at New Braunfels, Texas’ Whitewater Amphitheater on July 10 and 11 would be postponed until a currently undetermined later date. All tickets for the shows will be honored at the rescheduled engagements, and ticketholders also have the option to claim refunds from their point of purchase.
“Our hearts are with the people of Texas during this unimaginable tragedy. Though we were all looking forward to gathering at Whitewater Amphitheater this weekend, out of respect for the circumstances, The String Cheese Incident will not be performing as scheduled,” the band wrote. In closing, the group encouraged their fans to support Texans in need through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
With a drier forecast arriving in the most affected areas today, largely in Kerr County along the Guadalupe River, projections of the devastation continue to become more severe. As of Tuesday morning, the statewide death toll had exceeded 100 people, per The Guardian. An early estimate of damages and economic loss from AccuWeather ranges from $18 billion to $22 billion. A list of organizations receiving donations to provide immediate relief is available here.
The String Cheese Incident’s next staging will arrive on July 18 and 19, when the group will make its annual return to Morrison, Colo.’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, featuring support from The Wood Brothers and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country.
