Today, The Rooftop at Pier 17 unveiled the latest jam-focused act that has signed on to participate in its Summer Concert Series. Taking the slot is Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, who have signed on for two nights, Sept. 6 and 7, at the riverside venue. The act mentioned above follows an already-announced lineup of concerts steeped in jam-leaning music when the series picks up on June 14, with Greensky Bluegrass’ highly-anticipated return.
For the first time, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will offer a first headlining concert on June 16 at the venue after four previous co-headlining appearances, two with Ben Harper (2019) and a pair with Ziggy Marley (2023). Next, on July 11, moe. will keep the trend alive before Michael Franti & Spearhead fill the jam gap the next night, July 12. A couple of days later, Old Crow Medicine Show will appear at Pier 17, July 17, before O.A.R.’s two-night stand, July 25 and 16.
Returning to The Rooftop, Iration & Pepper will perform on July 28 before The Mountain Goats close out the month, with a gig slated for July 31. In mid-August, Andrew Bird and Amadou & Mariam will treat Pier 17 to a night of entertainment before Sublime fills the role with Rome on August 24. The Pigeon Frasco Dogs, also known as Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Andy Frasco & The UN, and Dogs in a Pile, will come together on Aug. 31, before the newly announced Joe Russo’s Almost Dead dates–Sept. 6 and 7.
