Today, The Revivalists shared a new album track titled “The Long Con,” which explores the current political landscape off their upcoming studio LP Pour It Out Into The Night, set to release June 2 via Concord Records. Notably, their lead radio single, “Kid,” is currently climbing the charts breaking into the Top 10 at AAA and trending in the same bracket at Alternative Radio while earning more than 1.3 million streams.

The new album track utilizes vigorous grooves, tactful distortion and gospel-style chants to recognize the divisions in our country while sharing a hope that the nation can hold onto the power of love.

“‘The Long Con’ is a song for the marginalized, the underrepresented and taken advantage of. It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening in our country,” said The Revivalists’ vocalist/guitarist David Shaw. “I wanted to write a song that we could all sing together at our concerts and truly feel connected and aligned. It’s a song for the people.”

The Revivalists’ aforementioned lead single, “Kid,” landed the band on this week’s cover of Apple Music’s ALT CTRL playlist, and also an anthem of hope, but rather inspires a love of life from the moment itself. The song also comes with a graffiti-inspired stop-motion video directed by Johnny Chew, which pays homage to the architectural and artistic aesthetics that define the band’s home of New Orleans. 

As Shaw just noted in a Relix feature, “We’re a hopeful band. We’re all about bringing that positive energy. But I think we also want to serve the song and acknowledge that life isn’t all about rainbows. So at the end of the day we want to give the people something that’s real and raw and authentic.”

The Revivalists are set to kick off their renowned live performances to celebrate their upcoming album with sets at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Bonnaroo, Innings Festival, Rendezvous Festival and more, along with their North American tour, which includes co-headline dates with The Head and The Heart starting on June 30 followed by co-headline dates with Band Of Horses beginning on July 28. They round their tour dates out with a return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., for a headline show on Sept. 14. For learn more and find tickets to The Revivalists tour here.
