The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Has Been Postponed to 2022, Due to COVID-19

On Sunday, Aug. 8 the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival announced it would not be taking place this October, citing “the current exponential growth of new COVID cases in New Orleans and the region.”

The event will now shift to the Spring of 2022, announcing the week of April 29 to May 8 as its new target.

Since COVID-19 put the live music world on ice, 2019 was the last Jazz Fest, marking the event’s 50th anniversary and welcoming over 475,000 music fans to the Crescent City.

Like any large-scale events, Jazz Fest has tried several times to make the best of the COVID era, rescheduling to late 2021 in an attempt to keep the event afloat.

As of their last announcement, the headliners for weekend one (Oct. 8-10) were set to be Dead & Company, Foo Fighters, Lizzo, The Black Crowes, Demi Lovato, Brandi Carlile and Wu-Tang Clan featuring The Soul Rebels.

Weekend two (Oct. 15-18) was set to boast Stevie Nicks, Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band, H.E.R., Norah Jones, Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Beach Boys and many more.

Even as recently as this past July, organizers were adding new acts to Jazz Fest, namely a headlining set by The Rolling Stones.

According to organizers, ticketholders will receive an email regarding their refund/rollover options for

“In the meantime, we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials, so that we can all soon experience together the joy that is Jazz Fest.”
