Back in 2020, The Infamous Stringdusters released Dust The Halls, which offered instrumental versions of 10 Yuletide classics. The band has recorded a follow-up, which is set for release on November 13.
As with the original, Dust The Halls Vol. 2 presents 10 tracks. However, this time around the quintet contributes vocals to half the tunes. In addition, rather than all-covers, the group is introducing three original songs. Bassist Travis Book has contributed two compositions and fiddler Jeremy Garrett located a demo of a song his father, Glenn Garrett, had written with the late Ronnie Bowman. Along with the five band members, Shawn Lane guests on a few tracks.
“With both volumes the main goal was to just record as many of the undeniable classic Christmas songs as possible,” guitarist Andy Falco says. “For this volume, I had a running list of the ones we didn’t get to on Volume 1.”
The band has shared “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” from the forthcoming release. Falco notes, “I love this song, such a classic melody and brings me back to my childhood Christmas celebrations.”
Dust The Halls Vol. 2 is now available for pre-order.
