The Disco Biscuits Perform Tractorbeam Debuted “Can’t Decide” for First Time During Norfolk Appearance
On October 31, the Disco Biscuits turned a new leaf by revamping their lineup and welcoming drummer Marlon B. Lewis during the onset of their Fall Tour. The enduring livetronica act, known for its high-energy, improvisation-driven performances that fuse trance and danceable grooves, followed up with shows on November 2 at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville and on Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va. Most recently, on Thursday, November 6, they performed their new song “Can’t Decide” live for the first time as the Disco Biscuits, after its initial debut under their Tractorbeam moniker at Hulaween.
Thursday’s performance in Norfolk, Va., found the band reaching back and igniting the night on the early aughts’ arrival, “Magellan,” which was fused with another original, “Who’s In Charge.” The latter featured a tease of The Bangles’ “Walk Like An Egyptian” before rolling into They Missed the Perfume cut, “Spacebirdmatingcall.” “Shadow” emerged for the enigmatic delivery, and eventually looped back to “Spacebirdmatingcall” before observing the evening’s mid-show pause.
After the set break, a long-time feature of their catalog emerged. “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line” initiated the onset of Thursday’s final frame and warped into the second ever, “Stimulations.” The previously mentioned track was performed for the first time in front of a live audience during the Disco Biscuit’s concert on September 7, 2025, at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Bellevue, Colo. During the band’s latest return to the selection, they parsed it with a tease of Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone.”
For their next move, the band played “Can’t Decide” for the first time as the Disco Biscuit, after previously debuting the track with electronic jam vehicle Tractorbeam, during their early morning Hulaween set. Drawing on their previous gig, Nov. 5, in Charlottesville, they completed the “Spraypaint” that began during Wednesday’s concert. During “Aceetobee,” they played with Mozart, “Piano Concerto #21 – Andante,” inserting a reference to the borrowed composition before arriving at the set’s final song, “Catalyst.”
The evening’s encore coursed “Falling 303” into set two’s de facto starter, “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line,” to cap the night. Tonight, the band will return to the live stage, performing at The National in Richmond, Va. Tickets remain on sale.
