Pianist Holly Bowling, bassist Sam Grisman and singer-songwriter/guitarist Max Flansburg will come together for a trio performance near the end of the year. The Bowling, Grisman, Flansburg Trio will make their live debut at Berkeley, CA’s The Freight on Friday, December 4, just a few days after Bowling and Grisman participate in Bill Kreutzmann’s A Very Grateful Thanksgiving in Hawaii.
In advance of the show, Grisman explained, “Max Flansburg and I will be coming back to the San Francisco Bay Area to make some music with our friend, the incredible HOLLY BOWLING, an absolute wizard of the keys and a gem of human. I’m looking forward to exploring the space that the TRIO provides and jumping into some of our favorite jams for you guys! I grew up going to shows and making music at the old Freight & Salvage and played the opening of this beautiful ‘new’ location with my dad and the rest of the Bluegrass Experience. They have a beautiful piano for Holly to play, and I couldn’t think of a better room for this Trio to get its start in! Come celebrate music and friendship with us!”
Bowling will celebrate Halloween weekend with shows at San Francisco’s The Chapel on October 30 and 31. Night one is being billed as Night of The Living Dead and will also feature Lebo, Wally Ingram, Elliott Peck and others while night two has been dubbed The Paul Simon Halloween Ball and will bring together Lebo, Reed Mathis and more. Meanwhile, Sam Grisman Project will appear at Hartford, CT’s Infinity Hall Hartford this evening.
