Aerosmith brought their second California, Dream On concert to a close on Sunday night, performing a seven-song set at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl at the end of an action-packed day of music. Like the first Dream On show on Thursday, which was the veteran Boston hard-rock act’s first appearance since 2023, the group offered a cross-catalog mix of material, with the help of some special guests.

Band drum tech John Douglas filled in for Joey Kramer behind the kit for much of the set, though, like on Thursday, Kramer did emerge during the headlining spot for a one-song cameo, this time on “Walk This Way.” Hip-hop pioneers Run‐D.M.C. also joined in the fun, stepping on stage partway through “Walk This Way” to tackle their parts from their rock/rap 1986 reworking of the cut. Also like Thursday, Steven Tyler’s actress daughter Liv Tyler introduced Aerosmith before their set, and Sunday’s festivities concluded with a fireworks display after the group brought things full circle with “The Train Kept A-Rollin’,” one of the tune the original band members bonded over when they first met. The rest of their show consisted of “Toys in the Attic, “ “Back in the Saddle,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dream On” and their cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together.”

The concert commenced hours earlier with a series of short tributes to Aerosmith, showcasing their enduring legacy. Marcus King kicked things off with “Same Old Song and Dance,” backed by the evening’s Don Was-led house band—guitarists Phil X and Audley Freed, keyboardist Adam Wakeman and drummer Kenny Aronoff.  From there, numerous choice performers took the stage to honor Aerosmith on a range of numbers, including Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Richie Kotzen (“Draw the Line,” “Nobody’s Fault”), Tom Morello and Lzzy Hale (“Kings and Queens,” “Round and Round”), Billy Idol and Steve Stevens (“Livin’ on the Edge”), Grace Potter (“What It Takes”), Pat Monahan (“You See Me Crying,” “Angel,” “Cryin’”) and Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson (“Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Barracuda”). Getting into the night’s collaborative spirit, Potter also joined Monahan for the 1993 hit single “Cryin’.”

Like the first Dream On show, both The Black Crowes and Guns N’ Roses offered longer, full-band tributes to the evening’s honorees as well. The Crowes turned in a similar setlist to Thursday, charging through “Let the Music Do the Talking,” their first-known cover of “Get the Lead Out,” “Combination,” “No More No More” and “Chip Away the Stone.” Then Guns N’ Roses busted into a completely different show, consisting of their first cover of “Mama Kin,” which they included on their 1986 EP Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide, since March 12, 2012, their first takes on “S.O.S. (Too Bad),” “Rats in the Cellar” and “Sick as a Dog,” and their own “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Nightrain.” Keyboardist Teddy Andreadis joined in on “Rats in the Cellar” as well.

While Aerosmith’s future is still unclear, Steven Tyler did brush off comments that evening host Bill Burr made about Sunday being the band’s final show. “So Bill Burr said these are our final shows, huh? Doesn’t he know that you can’t get rid of Aerosmith?” the singer from the stage, “In fact, at the end of the fucking world, there will only be cockroaches, Aerosmith, and, I guess, Bill Burr.”
