The Barr Brothers have announced a series of performances opening for Mumford & Sons. From Oct. 8-20, the indie-folk duo of Andrew and Brad Barr will accompany the London-based folk rock trio on the next leg of their sprawling world tour, celebrating the release of Rushmere, their fifth studio album. The nine-stop series, which follows drummer, singer and songwriter Andrew Barr’s extended stint as live drummer on Mumford & Sons’ tour, will arrive as the first phase of The Barr Brothers’ fall tour, which will continue from Nov. 4-29. The newly announced dates will also lead to the release of Let It Hiss, The Barr Brothers’ highly anticipated new studio album.

Due to arrive on Oct. 17 via Secret City Records, The Barr Brothers’ fourth album is their first since 2017’s Queens of the Breakers and a record of the long process of embracing vulnerability, honesty and personal transformation that allowed the brothers to create together again. After unveiling the project in June, Andrew and Brad Barr shared a second advance preview in mid-August with “English Harbour,” a powerful story of reminiscence featuring the voices of their old friends Jim James and Arc Iris’ Jocie Adams.

“Something cool and interesting that happened while recording ‘English Harbour’—we imagined both Jim James and Jocie Adams (Arc Iris) singing on this one,” Brad shared in a statement. “We had befriended Jim when our band The Slip opened for My Morning Jacket in 2007, and opened for them again with The Barr Brothers around 2015. And we’ve loved Jocie’s singing and arranging instincts since we toured with her old band The Low Anthem. The night we had the idea to invite them, we wrote to them both separately to ask if they’d be interested and available to sing on this song and they randomly happened to be eating dinner together at Jocie’s house in LA. Crazy serendipity! The two of them make this song so magical.”

Tickets for The Barr Brothers’ shows with Mumford & Sons are on sale now, with four of the nine stops already sold through. Find more information on The Barr Brothers’ full live itinerary and pre-order Let It Hiss at thebarrbrothers.com.
