On Dec. 7, The Allman Betts Family Revival rolled into Huntington, N.Y. for a return to The Paramount. The revolving supergroup helmed by Southern rock torchbearers Devon Allman and Duane Betts delivered the final Northeast staging in their 9th annual roaming tribute with an all-star cast of frequent collaborators and peers in influence from The Allman Brothers Band.
The Allman Betts Band’s lineup on Sunday was bolstered by massive talents like Amanda Shires, who led a treatment of “Whipping Post”; G. Love, who steered Sonny Boy Williamson’s “One Way Out” on harmonica; Jimmy Hall, who shredded on “Statesboro Blues”; Mattie Schnell and Robert Randolph, who accompanied for “Come and Go Blues,” and others like The North Mississippi Allstars’ Luther Dickinson and Cody Dickinson, Judith Hill, Sierra Green and Alex Orbison. The full company returned to the stage at the end of the show for a roaring encore of “Midnight Rider.”
The Allman Betts Family Revival will continue with a 12-stop trek through the South, including stops in Knoxville, Tenn., Charleston, S.C., Atlanta, Clearwater, Fla., San Antonio, Texas, Austin, Texas, Tucson, Ariz. and Los Angeles before a grand finale at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Dec. 21.
