Tedeschi Trucks Band is preparing for their highly anticipated multi-night siege of the esteemed Beacon Theatre in New York City. The residency begins on March 10-11 and continues over the ensuing weeks, with concerts scheduled for March 13-14, 18, 20-21, 25, and 27-28. A week out from the ensuing event, the hosts have unveiled a list of guests who will sit in on select dates, specifically each of their Wednesday night gigs.
According to Tedeschi Trucks Band’s latest dispatch, they have enticed acclaimed troubadour Steve Earle and Texas-raised singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson to take part in their March 11 concert. The following Wednesday, March 18, another musician has signed on to join the husband-and-wife duo’s live experience; this time, pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph will fill the position. The final Wednesday slot, March 25, will feature accompaniment from The North Mississippi Allstars.
Tedeschi Trucks Band’s time at the Beacon will overlap with the Friday, March 20 arrival of their sixth studio LP, Future Soul. The forthcoming collection of songs was produced by Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Carrie Underwood) and co-produced by one half of the band’s namesake, Derek Trucks. The 11-track collection was recorded at the couple’s own Swamp Raga Recording in Jacksonville, Fla., and at Phantom Studios in Gallatin, Tenn.
Notably, the forthcoming deliverable represents a candid and sincere full-band collaboration that draws on written contributions from Trucks, Tedeschi, Mike Mattison, Gabe Dixon, and Tyler Greenwell. Sonically, the album spans a variety of influences, including the title-alluded-to funk, rock-and-roll tendencies, and blues, soul, and punk elements, with the singles “I Got You” and “Who Am I” serving as initial previews.
Tickets remain on sale for select Beacon appearances. Peruse the remaining offerings at tedeschitrucksband.com/tour.
