Tedeschi Trucks Band Detail ‘The Garden Party’ Movie Screening and Director-Included Q&A in Boston
Tedeschi Trucks Band has announced a one-off Boston-based film screening of The Garden Party: A cinematic capture of the 12-piece band’s career-defining, sold-out debut at New York’s Madison Square Garden and an exclusive interview with husband-and-wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. The viewing also includes a special guest appearance by the movie’s director, John McDermott, who will participate in a Q&A segment during the Friday, May 1 screening at the Regent Theatre.
The Garden Party focuses on Tedeschi Trucks Band’s September 29, 2023, concert at the “World’s Most Famous Arena,” Madison Square Garden. The performance marked a massive achievement for the long-standing band, serving as their first headlining appearance on the famous stage. The move replaced their annual Beacon Theatre residency and marked an exciting alternative to their traditional yearly format.
Beyond the headliner’s triumphant display, the film also includes star-studded collaborations, in addition to a sprawling list of covers and band originals. Amongst them, Norah Jones tosses notes with Tedeschi during a first-time take on John Hiatt’s “Have a Little Faith in Me.”
Phish’s Trey Anastasio also makes an appearance, joining the group for The Who’s “The Seeker.” With Anastasio still included, the movie also presents a big collaboration between the latter, his hosts, and Lukas Nelson, who sits in on a blazing rendition of Derek and the Dominos’ “Layla.”
Tickets for Tedeschi Trucks Band: The Garden Party’s Boston-area film screening and director Q&A are on sale now.
