Taper’s Choice hosted their annual Halloween Taper’s Ball at Chicago’s Garcia’s last night. A fitting Halloween gag for a self-described “subversive jamband’ comprised of musicians who came of age seeing shows on the jam circuit but first gained traction in the expanded indie-rock universe, the group dressed as Phish covering Radiohead during the second of their three sets.

The quartet hinted that things to come at the end of set one, when they teased Phish’s “Wolfman’s Brother” during their original “Vegan in the ‘90s.” Then, for their second set, they dressed as the members of Phish and ran through a jam-forward mix of Radiohead classics, including “Everything in its Right Place,” “Kid A,” “The National Anthem,” “How to Disappear Completely,” “Treefingers,” “Optimistic,” “In Limbo,” “Idioteque,” “Morning Bell” and “Motion Picture Soundtrack.” Taper’s Choice then returned to the stage for an improv-heavy third set that weaved in their own “Lick the Toad,” “Doner Wrap” and “California 99.”

Taper’s Choice will kick off a Northeast run at Boston’s The Sinclair on December 10.
