Sublime will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their debut studio album, 40 Oz. to Freedom, at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on April 17 and 18. On night one, the band will perform the LP in full, while they will turn their attention to their 1996 self-titled album on night two, playing that record in its entirety.
Both gigs will also boast a career-spanning mix of hits and other live standards. Last year, Sublime released Until the Sun Explodes, their first LP in 30 years, and celebrated that milestone by running through Sublime in order for the first time at Red Rocks.
“Did you know that 40 oz to Freedom turns 35 next year? Well, it does! And we thought what a better way to celebrate than to bring that album to life at Red Rocks?! That’s right, we will be playing the entire album cover to cover live, at Red Rocks next year in April for our annual 420 celebration! This event has been proven to sell out fast, so don’t be late. Don’t hesitate and get your tickets now! Oh, and don’t forget to bring a friend and a couple jackets,” drummer Bud Gaugh said in a statement.
Sublime’s current lineup includes original bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Gaugh, alongside Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell, on vocals. Sublime will appear next at Orlando, FL’s Vans Warped Orlando on November 14. From there, they will sail from Miami, FL to Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas and back aboard the Sublime Reef Madness Cruise from November 15-19. SOJA, Yelawolf, Amigo the Devil, G. Love and Long Beach Dub Allstars are among the other acts slated to join Sublime during the cruise.
