Ally Venable has traversed hills and valleys with her sound since she released her debut LP at just 16 years old; now 23, her fifth solo offering, Real Gone! sits on the horizon – set to arrive on March 24 via Ruf Records.

Since her debut, Venable’s singing and playing have developed in such a way that she’s able to make contemporary blues music that speaks to music lovers of her own generation and through her journey, the Texas blues/rock guitarist has won many accolades, including multiple ETX Music awards for female guitar player of the year and 2022’s Road Warrior Award from the Independent Blues Music Awards, among others.

However, Venable’s commanding singing and playing don’t only speak to people in their 20s; her distinct old-school influences have caught the attention of many established luminaries, including Grammy winner Tom Hambridge–known for his work with Susan Tedeschi and Buddy Guy–who produced Real Gone!. Her authentic style also enabled Venable to tap the legendary Joe Bonamassa and one of her most beloved musical guides, the aforementioned Guy, for the record, which also sees Isaac Pulido on drums and EJ Bedford on bass.

Today, we premiere the lead single off Real Gone!, “Texas Louisiana,” a barn-burning and crackling duet between Venable and Guy. Together the two bookend the everlasting fire of the blues, tapping into the soul of the genre by tossing energy and riffs back and forth with grace, heat and ease. They intertwine their vocals and guitar work, allowing their identities to dissolve as musical imprint contracts and releases like one beating heart.

“I try to write about what goes on in my life or try to write about something I know others can relate to. We all go through things, and it’s okay to have feelings about something going on in your life,” Venable said in a statement.

In line with her clear and deep connection with Guy on “Texas Louisana,” she’ll join Guy on his farewell tour as an opener and perform in Europe on the Blues Caravan Tour while headlining her own shows.

“It’s a true honor to not only tour with Buddy but to have this song with him. We are both from the South and from similar areas, so I feel like this song is a great representation of us both,” Venable told Relix. “This is a dream of mine, and I’m so grateful that I get to share this moment with the world!”
