On Saturday, April 25, Trombone Shorty celebrated his birthday at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. The evening was billed as Shorty Turns 40 and featured an excellent list of local staples with international allure, in addition to visiting artists who informed a roster that included Leon Bridges, George Porter Jr., Irma Thomas, Mavis Staples, Joan Jett, Branford Marsalis, Grace Potter, Jill Scott, Eric Church, Ivan Neville, and others.
