Shakedown Family Band Enlists Drummer Alex Koford to Fill in for Jay Lane During Colorado Concerts
The Shakedown Family Band has shared an update on the participants in its Feb. 5 and 6 concerts at the Shakedown Bar in Vail, Colo. Drummer Alex Koford (Terrapin Family Band) will fill in for Jay Lane, who was initially scheduled to join the band during both the acoustic and electric engagements.
In a statement regarding the switch, the ensemble shared: “We are all saddened by the passing of Bobby Weir, who most of us have played with. Jay Lane, who has spent the last 32 years as Bobby’s drummer and friend, is gonna need some heart healing time, which we support and encourage, so Alex Koford will be filling in for him for these shows.”
With Koford behind the hit, the official Shakedown Family Band lineup includes previously announced contributors, Barry Sless (Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros), Ross James (Terrapin Family Band), Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band), Wally Ingram, and Scott Rednor.
The first of two Colorado concerts will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and is billed to start at 9 p.m. local time. The first performance will feature the band delivering an entirely electric show, before they shift to acoustic on Friday, February 6, when they’ll play in the afternoon, at 4 p.m. local time.
