Dave Matthews Band rolled into the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla. last night. The evening contained a number of surprises, beginning with their choice to open the show with the Everyday single “I Did It,” which they revived last fall, for the first time since Aug. 8, 2003. Partway through the show, the group brought out Carlos Malta, the Brazilian flautist and saxophonist, to play on “Say Goodbye,” which contained a welcome interpolation of “The Girl from Ipanema” and a version of “Crush” that stretched past the 13-minute mark. Matla has joined Dave Matthews Band several times since his first appearance in Brazil in 2008, though he had not sat in since 2019 before yesterday.

Later in the night, DMB invited out fiddler Jake Renick Simpson, who is known for his association with Lukas Nelson, for the last part of their proper set, which moved from “Lie in Our Graves” onto “Drunken Soldier,” “Satellite” and “Tripping Billies.” While the ensemble brought in keyboardist Buddy Strong instead of another violinist following the departure of Boyd Tinsley in 2018, they have welcomed guest fiddlers with increased regularity for select songs during the past two years. Yesterday’s show marked Simpson’s 10th appearance with Matthews since only Aug. 1, 2025.

Keeping up with the excitement, Dave Matthews Band offered rare encore placements of “Joy Ride” and “#41” at the end of their show, utilizing Simpson once again for the latter classic. DMB will return to the venue this evening.
