Second Annual Installment of You Got Gold: Celebrating The Songs of John Prine to Return in Nashville
After the success of the inaugural You Got Gold: Celebrating the Life and Songs of John Prine, the musician’s family has announced the sophomore edition of the benefit concert event, slated to occur over three days across Nashville, Tenn., this October, and raise funds for The Hello in There Foundation.
The first night of celebration will occur at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater on Oct. 8. An ensuing jubilee will happen the next night, Oct. 9, at The Basement East, followed by the final on Oct. 10 at the historic Ryman Auditorium, which will land on what would be Prine’s 77th birthday. During the shows, an array of surprise artists will take the stage and celebrate not only the musician’s esteemed career but also the beloved community he built over the past 50 years.
Prine’s wife, Fiona, shared via a press release, “The time I spent with John on the road made one thing very clear – the community he helped create was always, and remains, at the heart of the music and the work we continue to do every day. I’m so happy that ‘You Got Gold’ will now become an annual event to ensure that we maintain that connection and grow our beloved community. I look forward to seeing everyone back in Nashville this October, to celebrate John’s songs and help further the work of the Hello in There Foundation.”
Last year’s You Got Gold event raised nearly $500,000 for the Hello in There Foundation and featured performances by renowned artists such as Brandi Carlile, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Bonnie Raitt, Kurt Vile, Nathaniel Rateliff, Emmylou Harris, Allison Russell, Bob Weir, Lyle Lovett and more.
The Hello in There Foundation aims to identify and collaborate with individuals and communities where people are marginalized, discriminated against, or, for any reason, are otherwise forgotten, a mission embodied in the message of his 1971-released classic, “Hello in There” which the artist penned at the tender age of 22.
Tickets for all three shows will go on sale to the public this Friday, June 30, at 10 a.m. Full ticket details can be found at yougotgold.johnprine.com/tickets.
