Santana Extends Las Vegas Residency

Carlos Santana has added a round of November appearances to his residency at Las Vegas’ House of Blues. Now in its 14th year, the new dates for the show, which is officially called An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live: Presented by SiriusXM at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, will take place November 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14 and 15. The guitarist is already slated to play the House of Blues on September 6, 17, 19, 20, 23, 24, 26 and 27.

VIP packages will be available for purchase with customizable experiences that include limited edition photos and specialty food and beverage packages featuring stage-side dining. A portion of proceeds from all tickets sold benefit The Milagro Foundation, a charitable foundation supporting underrepresented and vulnerable children and youth in the areas of arts, education and health. The Milagro Foundation was created by Santana and his family in 1998 to benefit children worldwide. Another contribution goes to the House of Blues Music Forward Foundation, which “accelerates real-life skills for youth using music as the bridge to success.” Before launching his current residency, Santana staged a multi-year stand at Las Vegas’ The Joint, beginning in 2009.

Santana just wrapped up the first part of a summer tour dubbed Oneness with The Doobie Brothers. On select nights, the guitarist has invited out the members of The Doobie Brothers for a few covers. Yesterday, Santana brought out his tour companions for The O’Jays’ “I Love Music” and The Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues” at Alpharetta, GA’s Ameris Bank Amphitheatre and, Wednesday night at Charlotte, NC’a Truliant Ampitheater, the musicians emerged during Santana’s set for “Roadhouse Blues” and The Zombines’ “She’s Not There.”

Earlier in the run, The Doobie Brothers sat in on both Dino Valenti’s “Let’s Get Together” and “I Love Music” several times. The Doobie Brothers also surprised fans by busting out singer Michael McDonald’s hit “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near),” from his famed album If That’s What It Takes, for the first time since that LP was released in 1982 and the band subsequently dissolved. The song has remained in regular rotation throughout the summer.

The Oneness Tour’s next leg will pick up at Auburn, WA’s White River Amphitheatre on August 6.
