Going home, going home

By the waterside I will rest my bones

Listen to the river sing sweet songs

To rock my soul

This Saturday, January 17, a free public gathering to honor the Grateful Dead’s inaugural participant, lyricist and white-bearded cowboy, Bobby Weir, will take place. Beginning at 12:45 p.m. PT, the event will be held at the Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco and celebrate the late musician's music, spirit and compassion.

During the public memorial, the community will honor Weir’s historic impact and ability to touch generations through his deep commitment to the songs. For those interested in paying their respects and joining in the community event, a three-block traveling procession will make its way down Market Street between 7th and 9th Streets, beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT.

This event is not a concert, and there will be no live musical performances. For those interested in attending the event and paying final tribute to Weir, an RSVP link is available here.
