The Roots Picnic has unveiled the full artist lineup for its 2024 presentation, set to stage on June 1 and 2 at its longtime venue of Philadelphia’s The Mann in Fairmount Park. This year’s event will bring a roster of the most acclaimed artists from the worlds of hip-hop, R&B and everything in between to the City of Brotherly Love, led by headliners Jill Scott, Nas, Gunna, Victoria Monet and André 3000. For its annual collaborative performance, The Roots will be joined by the legendary Lil Wayne, who will enlist Trombone Shorty, PJ Morton and more for a celebration of his home city of New Orleans.

In the festival’s 16th anniversary installment, revered hip-hop luminaries The Roots and Live Nation Urban will host 39 acts, including icons, up-and-comers and once-in-a-lifetime collaborations. This year’s event will be led by pathbreakers like 2024’s Best New Artist Grammy winner Victoria Monet, YSL superstar Gunna, boom bap legend Nas and the incomparable Philadelphia-native Jill Scott, who recently celebrated 20 years of her game-changing debut album Who is Jill Scott? The festival will also host a special performance from André 3000 of his experimental soundscape project New Blue Sun, as well as the highly-anticipated NOLA tribute from The Roots, Lil Wayne, Trombone Shorty, PJ Morton and more.

Beyond the top of the bill, the Roots Picnic will bring to life three unheard collaborations: J.Period will tap Black Thought, Method Man and Redman for a live mixtape, renowned producer Adam Blackstone will stage his legacy experience with Fantasia and Muni Long and Baller Alert will present a go-go celebration with Backyard Band, alongside Scarface and Amerie. Other artists featured in the lineup include Sexxy Red, Babyface, Wallo & Gillie, Wale, Robert Glasper & Yebba, Cam’ron, Tyla, OT7 Quanny, Funk Flex and many more. Podcast and DJ-driven experiences from presenters like Million Dollaz Worth of Game and Tonight’s Conversation will highlight the event’s focus on critical engagement with the culture that brings hip-hop and R&B to thrive.
