Ron Delsener Details Wearing Dress and “Shmuck Hat” to Phish Shows on Long May They Run Podcast

Storied New York promoter Ron Delsener makes an appearance on episode 10 of the C13Originals Long May They Run podcast. Season one of the series, which is hosted by Relix editor-in-chief Dean Budnick, explores the music and culture of Phish. Delsener, who joined fellow promoter/Relix Publisher Peter Shapiro in a keynote conversation at the 2017 Relix Live Music Conference, first began working with Phish in the early 90s. In the new episode of Long May They Run, titled “Breath and Burning,” the band members discuss their interactions with him over the years, including his appearance at the Coventry festival in a dress. In the Audiogram below, Page McConnell also talks about Delsener’s Vermont bumpkin outfit.

In addition, the episode touches on the origins of drummer Jon Fishman’s Katy Perry cover, the band’s chess match with its audience, the group’s graduation from Nectar’s to The Front, and former Phish tour manager Brand Sands’ quandary when Sting says, “Play me a Phish song. Come on, convince me that this is good.” “Breath and Burning” concludes the first season proper of Long May They Run, although some bonus content is set to follow in an episode that will launch on Wednesday.
