Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announce Class of 2024: Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton and More
The annual selection of the music industry’s most outstanding talents has been revealed in the tradition of Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yesterday, April 21, the eight inductees were picked and will be honored during the 39th annual ceremony on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
A diverse array of eight names and bands have been chosen for the Performer category, each bringing their unique sound and style: Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Cher, Mary J. Blige, Kool & The Gang, A Tribe Called West and Ozzy Osborne. Also making the list are Norman Whitfield, Jimmy Buffett and Dionne Warwick for their Musical Excellence.
Outside of the aforementioned classifications, Big Mama Thornton, John Mayall, and Alexis Korner are the folks who will be honored in the musical influence field. Representing the final honoree is Suzanne de Passe, receiving the coveted Ahmet Ertegun Award for
The official announcement came on Sunday evening during American Idol when Lionel Richie joined host Ryan Seacrest to reveal the highly anticipated list. Notably, highlights from the ceremony will be aired on ABC and Hulu.
Previously, Osborne entered the Rock Hall along with his Black Sabbath bandmates in 2006, but this represents his first and only solo nomination, as well as fellow first-timers Frampton, Cher and Kool & The Gang. Oasis, Jane’s Addiction, Mariah Carey, Sinead O’Connor, Kenny Kravitz, Sade, and more were nominated but did not receive the 2024 title.
