Amazon Prime has selected Robert Randolph’s song “Take the Party” as the 2024 NFL Thursday Night Football theme song. The track, which originated from his album 2013 Family Band LP, Lickety Split, featuring Trombone Shorty, has been remixed and licensed by the broadcast network for extended use. According to the official press release, Randolph’s track will serve as the theme song during the entire 16-week regular season–playing at the program’s start, in the moments leading up to kickoff, and during the halftime spotlight.
“Take the Party” represents the second time Randolph’s music has been used to complement the sports broadcast. Just last year, the pedal steel virtuoso, known for his credits that extended to include roles as a producer and composer, lent his 2006 Stomp the Yard number, “Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That,” during the inaugural broadcast season. The latest move to bolster Randolph’s music during weekly games solidifies his lively energy as a catalyst for excitement going into each match, an ideal commendation for America’s pastime.
Thursday night football’s next game will be on September 26, when the Dallas Cowboys face off against the New York Giants at 5:15 p.m. The schedule will extend through the fall and into the early winter months, with a final matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
