Last night Ringo Starr took the stage for his first-ever appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. His friend and Opry member Emmylou Harris had extended the invitation at the conclusion of Starr’s sold-out two night stand at the Ryman in January.
The icon’s Opry set began with "Time On My Hands," the latest single from his new T Bone Burnett-produced album Look Up. He followed this with a version of Buck Owens' "Act Naturally," which Starr originally sang with The Beatles. Those two tunes featured Molly Tuttle (who appears on Look up) as well as Old Crow Medicine Show frontman Ketch Secor. Starr then closed things out with a sing-along version of the classic "With A Little Help From My Friends" which featured a number of guests, including Burnett, Mickey Guyton and Ricky Skaggs.
Starr also addressed the Opry crowd from the stage, stating “As you may have noticed I dressed up a bit tonight. I’m a cowboy inside. This is a great honor and an incredible moment for me. It’s just a dream to end up here.”
