Rhiannon Giddens to Livestream Carolina Chocolate Drops First Reunion in Over a Decade at Upcoming Biscuits & Banjos Festival

Ahead of the inaugural Biscuits & Banjos Festival, decorated artist Rhiannon Gidden has shared updates on the first-time event, which is slated to take place on April 25-27, 2025, across downtown Durham, N.C. 

According to the official press release, “The festival, curated by Giddens, is a celebration of Black music, art, and culture, bringing together artists, storytellers, and the community to honor the legacy of Black string band traditions while showcasing the diversity and vitality of contemporary Black folk and roots music.”

During the forthcoming event, Giddens’ Carolina Chocolate Drops project will stage a reunion that will now be available to livestream via Veeps on April 26. In addition to a way to watch the special coming together, the daily lineups for the festival have also been revealed. View here.

According to the livestream description, the experience will allow viewers to watch, “Live from the sold-out first ever Biscuits and Banjos Festival, Rhiannon Giddens’ Carolina Breakdown celebrates the deep roots and enduring legacy of black string band music for an unforgettable evening! Curated by Giddens, the multi-act lineup highlights the intergenerational passing down of tradition, including the much-anticipated reunion of trailblazing group the Carolina Chocolate Drops for their first performance together in more than a decade.”
