Report: Grammy Awards Postponed

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, set to be held on Jan. 31, have been postponed to March 14 due to COVID-19 concerns as the virus continues to spread rapidly throughout the Los Angeles Area. The news was first reported by Rolling Stone and confirmed by The New York Times and Variety.

The postponement comes less that a month before the awards were to be held.

“After thoughtful conversations with health experts, our host and artists scheduled to appear, we are rescheduling the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards to be broadcast Sunday, March 14, 2021,” read an official statement by the Recording Academy. “The deteriorating COVID situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services being overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do. Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show.”

Trevor Noah was set to host the event, and Beyonce led all artists with nine nominations in eight categories. Read our full rundown on the nominees here.
