The Relix Live Music Conference has confirmed it will return to the Brooklyn Bowl on May 14 and 15, 2019.
As was the case for 2017 and 2018, the two day event will bring together industry heavy-hitters for panels, presentations and freeform discussions to inspire those who want to gain a foothold in the music industry.
2018’s sold-out RLMC included representatives from top-tier companies like CID Entertainment, Madison Square Garden, AEG Presents, Live Nation and Red Light Management, as well as familiar faces like manager Matt Busch (Bob Weir) and LOCKN’ co-founder Dave Frey.
Panels enlightened attendees on topics like livestreaming, festivals, the restoration of The Capitol Theatre, talent buying and more. And while the RLMC is definitely a learning experience, there was still time for fun, with a special We B-E-E Spelling afterparty featuring Leftover Salmon and Andy Frasco.
During a panel on talent buying, Darren Pfeiffer of Madison Square Garden told a rapt audience that the key to success in the music industry is being proactive. Or, in his words, “having creative conversations and not waiting for the phone to ring.”
Peter Shaprio, Dan Parise, Ami Spishock and Danny Clinch Discuss “Building Businesses in the Music Space”
War on Drugs and Grizzly Bear manager Ami Spishock also offered plenty of wisdom during 2018’s panel on musical entrepreneurship, arguing that “the bottom line of the music industry is live. No matter what’s popular at the moment hip-hop or pop, these indie rock bands are still doing great because there’s bodies showing up.”
Echoing that sentiment photographer Danny Clinch said, “It’s not about if it’s easier or if it’s harder. It’s about if you have the hustle.”
2018 Keynote: David Fricke and Don Was
As always, keynote discussions are the RLMC’s main event. 2017 presented a conversation between legendary promoter Ron Delsener and Brooklyn Bowl co-founder Peter Shapiro, whereas 2018 featured a Q&A with famed musician-producer Don Was and Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke.
Tickets for the Relix Live Music Conference go on sale Friday, Janaury 11 at 11 a.m. ET. Visit RelixMusicConference.com for more information.
